wieght in the spotlight....

I could not help but watch Jessica Simpsons interview with Oprah, and thought to myself, you go girl! I have to say, I really do not like the girl because of how stupid she always seemed to be on her tv show when she was first married and other occasions. She just seemed to be a big ditz. I have to say that I am happy for her and kind of impressed for the new show that she is doing with how the world sees beauty. I think this world does become very obsessed with beauty and how thin our women are suppose to be to be considered beautiful. I think that our society thinks that women should look anorexic just to be considered normal and beautiful. That is a bunch of CRAP. Marilyn Monroe was a size 12, yes a 12. That is the average for most women now. In todays standards though, that is now considered to be over weight. What is with this world that makes us want to be a stick to think better about ourselves. The media and celebrities are not helping when it comes to our children. They are starting at very early ages thinking they are fat and trying eating disorders. We need to start giving our children better images to compare and look up to. What are your views on how we see beauty?

  1. I would have to agree with you to many people in society view beauty as what they see in the media. That every one must look like the models they see on tv. There are some coutries that are trying to change this. I read an article a whilie back to some shows that the models can not be below a certain weight if they want to go on.

  2. I agree, I think too many people care about how they look. A person shouldn't kill themselfs to try and fit into what society says is "normal" or exceptable to be considered beautiful. Our children fall into that trap too and are more concerned with how they look, if they are fitting in size wise than the important things like self respect and school.
